A better version
Last time: I'm on the board of NYCC as Webmaster. This year I'm running for Director of Technology in order to improve the club's website. Read why I'm running and about me.
I have a solution and I think you'll agree it has a materially better experience and look. It lives at tools.nycc.org.
Built Everything below is live at tools.nycc.org today, not on a roadmap. What it has that makes it the better choice for the club:
- A visual theme and flow that make finding, joining, and creating a ride simpler and faster
- All ride history from the past ten years, including rides posted to the site launched this year
- Smart ride creation: it uses your ride history and the club's route library on Ride with GPS to suggest the route for your ride
- Train search: integrated with LIRR, NJT, and Metro North schedules to find train times for your route and start time
- Start locations filtered to the ride you're creating
- Strava integration that auto-names your activities and computes your NYCC pace
- A ride roster, so you can see who's riding when
- Privacy protections built in from day one

The interface is exceptionally user friendly. As a member of the Membership_App testing team, I was surprised by how difficult it was to test and submit feedback. The feedback button built into NYCC.bike is a game changer. Even as a relatively new member, I am proud of the rides I've led and sad that history would be erased. tools proves it does not have to be.
